SCCI seeks intervention of Modi, CM Rupani to resume Ghogha-Dahej ferry service

  • Saurashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Bhavnagar, Monday said that it has written to PM Modi and Vijay Rupani requesting them to intervene so that the Ghogha-Dahej ro-pax ferry service.
  • SCCI president Sunil Vadodariya said in a statement that the ferry service linking Saurasthra to south Gujarat via the sea route was a “ray of hope” for Bhavnagar and therefore it should be restored at the earliest.
  • The service has remained suspended since September 24 this year due to insufficient draught caused by lack of dredging.
  • The service was suspended due to insufficient dredging at Dahej. Carelessness of GMB (Gujarat Maritime Board) officers is responsible for this.

  • They did not do anything till the time silting surfaced to zero level, leading to the present situation. It has been almost two months and yet the service has not resumed,” Vadodaraiya stated in the release.
