'Attempts to saffronise me like Thiruvalluvar': Rajinikanth

There was speculation of Rajinikanth joining the BJP ahead of the 2021 Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.
But on Friday, Rajinikanth clarified that he will not join BJP in any condition.
He further added, “Attempts are being continuously to adorn me with saffron just like Thiruvalluvar. Thiruvalluvar won’t be trapped and I also will not be trapped."
He gave this answer to the controversy over BJP’s attempts to saffronise Thiruvalluvar.
Earlier, on November 2, BJP Tamil Nadu had tweeted a picture of Thiruvalluvar wearing saffron robes, sparking protests from Dravidian groups.
Senior BJP leader, Pon Radhakrishnan had also met Rajnikanth on 6th Novemeber on winning the ‘Icon of the Golden Jubilee’ award.
