Statue of poet, whose photo BJP tweeted with saffron clothes on, vandalised

  • The statue of Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar located in Pillayarpatti was vandalized on Monday.
  • Some miscreants desecrated the statue by smearing Thiruvalluvar's face with ink.
  • The poet's statue also had cow dung smeared on it. The statue has now been cleaned. Police are investigating the matter.
  • Condemning the vandalisation of the statue, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin tweeted that Periyar statue was vandalised.

  • Picture of Thiruvalluvar was saffronized. And now his statue has been vandalised in Thanjavur. People who fought for Tamil are being disrespected and it is becoming a regular affair.
