Akalis once again bank on Rai Sikh in Jalalabad

Rai Sikh leader Raj Singh Dibbipura has been nominated the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from Jalalabad Assembly segment. His candidature was announced by the party last evening.
A Registered Medical Practitioner by profession and agriculturist, Dibbipura is considered close to Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He is a resident of Dibbipura village of Jalalabad subdivision.
It is stated that on the directions of high command, he had resigned from the post of vice-president of Scheduled Castes Commission, Punjab, last week to pave the way for his candidature.
Although several names had come up for Jalalabad seat, the SAD could not afford to annoy the Rai Sikh community which has a sizeable chunk of votes in the segment.
