SC gets 4 new judges including Assam's Hrishikesh Roy
The President has appointed four new Judges, including one from Assam, to the Supreme Court taking the total number of Judges in the apex court to 34.
The Assam-born Judge is Justice Hrishikesh Roy, who is currently serving as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.The three other Judges are Justices Krishna Murari, SR Bhat and V Ramasubramanian.
Roy has been serving as the acting CJ of Kerala HC since May 30, 2018 following his transfer from Guwahati HC.
He was also nominated as a member of the National Judicial Academic Council presided by the Chief Justice of India.
The appointments come a month after Parliament passed a bill increasing the judicial strength from 30 to 33, excluding the Chief Justice of India, on August 7.
