New Advisory Council to hold first meet today

Several issues related with the city’s development will be raised in the first meeting of the new Administrator’s Advisory Council to be held tomorrow.
The meeting will be chaired by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore. Issues such as making the area around Sukhna Lake vehicle-free, trade and industries and the law and order condition of the city will be taken up in the meeting.
The Department of Urban Planning will give a presentation regarding the proposed parking policy. The issues that are likely to be raised include transfer of primary schools and dispensaries from the Municipal Corporation to the Chandigarh Administration. While the Administration wanted to take over the departments, the Municipal Corporation refused the transfer. The problem of stray dogs is also likely to be discussed in the meeting. The council is meeting for the first time after it was reconstituted last month.
