Tamilisai Soundararajan sworn in as first woman governor of Telangana at Raj Bhavan

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan assumed office as Telangana’s second governor on Sunday. Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice Raghavendra Singh Chouhan administered oath of office and secrecy to Tamilisai at a brief ceremony at the Raj Bhavan.
She received ceremonial salute from the police before reaching the Raj Bhavan and after taking oath touched her parent’s feet to take their blessings.
On 1 September, the President named her as the second Governor of Telangana, which was formed on 2 June, 2014.
Earlier this prestigious post was held by ESL Narasimhan, who was relieved on Saturday.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Union minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy, Himachal Pradesh Governor-designate Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, state ministers and officials were present on the occasion.
