Pala bypoll: Last minute twist as Joseph group candidate files nomination

P.J. Joseph group of Kerala Congress (M) made a dramatic move on Wednesday by making one of its leaders file nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Pala bypoll in the last minute. Political observers are viewing the move as a pressuring tactic.
Joseph faction leader and farmers Union state secretary Joseph Kandathil filed his nomination papers with only minutes left to the deadline. Joseph Kandathil was accompanied by P. J. Joseph’s personal assistant and other group leaders.
Joseph Kandathil filed his nomination papers at a time when there is a confusion regarding allocation of Kerala Congress (M)’s two leaves symbol to the UDF candidate Jose Tom Pulikkunnel.
