South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha inspected the Margao railway station on Sunday along with officials of the Konkan Railway to check on amenities being provided to passengers travelling by trains. During his interaction with the railway officials, the MP drew the attention to providing clean and hygienic toilets at the station premises, even offering to spend funds from the central government’s MPLAD scheme for the upkeep and maintenance of toilets.

He urged the officials to place forth their grievances so that he could take them up with the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal whom he is scheduled to meet later this month. Sardinha said he would also place before the minister several issues he came across during his inspection. Sardinha also inquired into the implementation of the Margao station beautification plan, which Konkan Railway officials said would be done within the timeframe it was allotted.
