Maharashtra confident of receiving Rs 6,800 cr fund for flood victims

Maharashtra government requested the centre delegation to relax the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) guidelines while releasing Rs 6,800 crore compensation to flood-hit farmers. The state government had sought the Rs 6,800 crore for the relief and compensations measures in the flood-hit area. The centre delegations team under the leadership of Dr V Thiruppugzah, additional secretary of the National Disaster Management Authority concluded its tour and will submit its report to centre.
Chandrakant Patil, revenue minister had called the meeting with delegations on Sunday along with state secretaries to discuss the modalities of relief fund release. "We had demanded Rs 6,800 crore from the central government. Now after the visit of the centre delegations, we are confident that the demanded fund amount will be released soon," said Patil.
