Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday taken up one day visit to Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project site where he will hold review the progress and also the land acquisition at the project sites. KCR, accompanied by State Excise and Prohibition minister V Srinivas Good reached Karvena project first by chopper. He will also visit Karvena, Vattem and Narlapur lifts and return Hyderabad by evening. The lift irrigation scheme envisaged creating irrigation potential in upland areas of Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Viakarabad, ranga Redy and Nalgonda districts for an ayacut (area under irrigation) of about 10 lakh acres. The project will also fetch drinking water needs in the old Ranga Reddy district.
