Revanna: No funds for flood relief, but ₹2,000 cr. for CM’s constituency

Former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna has said that Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had talked of not having a machine to print notes for flood relief works, but had sanctioned projects worth ₹2,000 crore in his home constituency Shikaripur and the adjoining areas within 20 days of assuming office.
Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said: “When the coalition government presented the budget, it was termed Hassan-Mandya budget. Now, within 20 days, Mr. Yediyurappa has sanctioned ₹850 crore for Shikaripur Lift Irrigation and other projects worth ₹2,000 crore. And this is at a time when north Karnataka is facing the worst natural calamity.” Mr. Revanna said north Karnataka had sent the highest number of BJP leaders to the State Assembly and Parliament, but both the Union and State governments had failed to come to their rescue.
Thippeswamy, MLC, said that their main plea to the government was to immediately release funds for flood relief works in north Karnataka.
