Citizens free to buy or sell land anywhere in India: Ex-MP CM

BJP’s former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said citizens are free to buy or sell land anywhere in the country. Replying to queries on Article 370 at a press conference, Chouhan, who is in Goa for the BJP workers’ meeting, said, “As a citizen of India, anyone is free to buy land in Goa, Madhya Pradesh or Kashmir as  it is one country.” Chouhan said like Jammu and Kashmir, which was governed by Article 370, gross injustice was done to Goa too.

“Despite India gaining Independence on August 15, 1947, Goa had to wait for 14 years. Why? This was due to Jawaharlal Nehru’s faulty policies, which saw Portuguese rule Goa for 14 years even after Independence,” he said. Similarly, he said, when Maharaja Hari Singh decided to merge Kashmir with India he never asked for Article 370 or Special Status. “The Congress has always been confused. Earlier, it was Nehru, Indira and now it is Sonia and Rahul. The Congress is not yet decided what to do on Article 370 either to oppose or support and as a result different leaders speak in different tones,” he said.
“We want Sonia Gandhi to make a statement on Article 370,” he said adding “Their leader P Chidambaram says Article 370 would have not been abrogated if J&K was a Hindu state.” He said, “Mr Chidambaram should have understood that if J&K was Hindu state there would be no Article 370. The Congress is trying to play politics on the issue as they did for 70 years – dividing people for votes.” Further, he praised Goa for its all round progress and credited former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for development of Goa. “Be it health and infrastructure, Goa has shown the country the way and my friend Manohar Parrikar and the current chief minister Pramod Sawant are responsible for bringing out change in Goa,” he said.
