Cong. opposes diversion of key welfare scheme funds

The Congress has opposed the BJP government’s move to cut budgetary allocation to key welfare schemes such as Anna Bhagya and Indira Canteen to generate funds for the additional ₹4,000 per farmer announced by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa under the Kisan Samman Yojana (KSY), under the pretext of releasing money to flood-affected areas.
Senior party leader and former Minister D.K. Shivakumar warned that the party would launch an agitation if the BJP government sidelines or neglects the implementation of the schemes.
“Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said he would not indulge in vindictive politics and that the government’s sole objective was to focus on development of the State. The Chief Minister should not preach one thing and implement something else.
