Congress moves Gujarat High Court to debar Alpesh Thakor, Dhavalsinh Zala

The Congress party has once again moved the Gujarat High Court challenging the inaction of Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi in deciding the applications seeking disqualification of former Congress MLA from Radhanpur Alpesh Thakor and Bayad MLA Dhavalsinh Zala under the provisions of the anti-defection law.
The petition has been preferred by Congress chief whip in the Assembly Ashwin Kotwal, who has sought a direction that Thakor and Zala should be disqualified and won't be allowed to contest election for the remaining tenure of the fourteenth assembly.
When the case was taken up for hearing by the division bench of Justice SR Brahmbhatt and Justice AP Thaker, assistant government pleader Utkarsh Sharma sought time citing that the copy of rajenthe petition was not served. Sharma requested the court to adjourn the hearing of the case till Monday, which was agreed by it.
