Arunachal BJP allays fear of scrapping 371

The Arunachal Pradesh BJP on Sunday said that the party has no intention to scrap Article 371, which provides special provisions for Arunachal Pradesh and 10 other states in the country.
Welcoming the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A from the Constitution of India, State BJP chief spokesperson Dominic Tadar said that the withdrawal of Article 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir was needed to maintain unity, integrity and the sovereignty of the country.

Tadar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for taking such a bold move for the welfare of the country.
“Because of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s initiative and the effort of the present BJP government, Article 370 has been removed,” he said.

He said that it was always the party agenda to integrate the country into one nation.
Tadar said that due to this Article, J&K witnessed terrorism, corruption and a movement of separatism.
“It is very unfortunate that the internal matter of a sovereign country like India is being debated and protested by Pakistan in their parliament,” he added.
Speaking on the implementation of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the northeastern states, Tadar said that the present State government and the entire region is not in favour of the bill.
“CAB, basically will not be made uniform throughout the country. Wherever the people oppose the CAB, I think it will not be implemented,” he said.
Tadar insisted that the special status of Arunachal Pradesh will not be disturbed and to make sure, the State government will be discussing the matter with the Centre.
On the BEFR Act 1873, he said that the Act is to preserve the socio-cultural aspects of the State and the BJP government would not do anything against the interest of the State and its people.
Asked if Article 371 (H) specific to Arunachal Pradesh could be scrapped like Article 370 and 35A, Tadar said the state government will act if the Centre feels the special power conferred on the Governor is not needed.
