120 deaths reported due to Japanese Encephalitis: Assam’s Health Minister

As many as120 people have died in Assam due to Japanese Encephalitis. Pijush Hazarika, Health Minister, Assam on Japanese Encephalitis deaths in the state said, “Till now, 120 people have died.
Government is providing free treatment and patients who are admitted in private hospitals are being given Rs1 lakh for treatment. Medical and paramedical staff are visiting houses in villages.” Japanese Encephalitis is vector-borne encephalitis transmitted by Culex groups of mosquitoes.
