Stalin lashes out at law and order situation in State

DMK president M.K. Stalin on Sunday criticised the law and order situation in the State. Addressing an election meeting at Alangayam, 90 km away from the fort town of Vellore, he said that not a day passes without him reading news of murder, rape and burglary. He recalled that former Mayor Uma Maheswari and two others were brutally murdered in broad daylight, adding that the police were yet to make progress in this case.
He canvassed for D.M. Kathir Anand in Mittur, Nimmiyampattu, Sekkumedu and Perumalpettai in Vaniyambadi Assembly segment in Vellore district.
Mr. Stalin rebuked Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s remark that the DMK was encouraging family members of its leaders to enter politics. He said it was not fair to attack the party for “family politics” as everyone was coming to power by winning the people’s faith.
Hitting back at the CM’s claim that the DMK had won seats by making dubious promises to the voters, he said, “If we have won 38 seats by extending false promises akin to luring children with sweets, did you give halwa in Theni?”
