The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) to reject the Coastal Zone Management Plans (CZMPs). The AAP alleges that the plan is being pushed through by the government to please the big corporate lobbies.
The AAP has also written to the panchayats to oppose the plan and urged the people to get involved in the process of presentations. “If the CZMP is allowed to go through, no Goan will survive the onslaught of powerful persons who will term any person questioning them as an ‘undesirable person’ and take action to put them behind bars,” AAP said in a statement. 
As a result, the areas shown under the CZM plan shall be out of the purview of the Panchayat jurisdiction and the Panchayats would have to helplessly watch the destruction of their villages. 
“The right to fishing in the age-old rivers will be lost forever the environment will be a casualty, and the destruction of Goa at the cost of the Goan people will be irreversible,” AAP environment cell in-charge Siddharth Karapurkar said.
