Bengal: Tension over BJP tying its flag in Nimta mosque

In politically surcharged North 24 Parganas of West Bengal where Bhatpara is located, even the smallest friction is leading to huge tension post Lok Sabha elections. One such incident happened Sunday in North 24 Parganas' Tegharia located in the Nimta area, reports Zee 24 Ghanta. The tension started over BJP tying its flag on a mosque. Protesting against it, locals did a dharna on the Kalyani Expressway hampering traffic flow on Sunday. Huge number of police came to finally bring the situation under control.
On Sunday, BJP had a programme in Tegharia. For that, workers were tying flags near the area. However, when BJP workers went and tied a flag in the local mosque, the Imam opposed it. However, they didn't pay any heed to Imam's opposition, according to a section of locals. Soon, a war of words and commotion ensued in the area with locals asking BJP workers to bring down the flag. TMC workers too arrived in the spot and the tension increased. BJP workers initially tried to counter TMC raising 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. Later, sensing that many people are against them, BJP workers left the area.
