By Navhindtimes 19-Jul-2019
Speaking during the Question Hour of the State Legislative Assembly, Kavlekar said that a total of 5,350 applications – 3,805 plots of under 500 mts of area, 485 between 500 mts and 1,000 mts of area and 1,060 pertaining to area above 1,000 mts – were received by the Town and Country Planning Board, and 233 of them received provisional approval.
“We need to check as to why the holders of smaller plots, most of whom belong to common men, were not given preference while deciding on the zone changing,” said Kavlekar. He further stated that he would also review as to why only a limited number of applications were approved.
The Minister for Town and Country Planning maintained that altogether 30 applications have been given final approval, during the last meeting of the Board, while seeking time from the House to study and present the matter as regard zone changing, since he had taken charge of the portfolio just a couple of days ago. Incidentally, no conversion fees were charged from the applicants for change of zone.
