10 rebel Cong MLAs’ future bleak: Vijai

Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday said that 10 rebel Congress MLAs who merged their party’s legislative wing into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be out from the state legislative assembly if Supreme Court takes suo motu cognizance on the recent political development in Goa.
“The citizens are feeling helpless today as Democracy has been entirely captured by politicians. The tenth schedule of the Constitution of India has been killed in this very House. And if the top court takes suo motu cognizance on this then the 10 MLAs will be out…in any case, they are out as they have no future after two years,” said Sardesai while speaking during the cut motion moved by opposition MLAs on Governor Mridula Sinha’s speech in the Assembly.
He said that by joining BJP the 10 rebel Congress MLAs by default have taken the voluntary retirement scheme of the government. Sardesai said that after the merger the BJP were finding it hard to justify and convince their party cadre adding, “They (BJP) will come out with a lie to explain to their party workers and repeat it so many times that it will appear to them as the truth.”
“Goans are educated and they can easily differentiate between truth and a lie. Power is not with the chair, power is with the people. I only wish that henceforth people should join your party (BJP) from heart and not by fright,” he added.
