Manipur titular king unhappy with power tussle

Titular king of Manipur, Leishem Sanajoaba on Wednesday expressed concerned over the escalating in-fighting within the ruling BJP for leadership change.
The in-fighting with the BJP, the party leading a coalition government in Manipur has been going on since May, soon after the 17th Lok Sabha election was over.
Some section of BJP MLAs were batting for a leadership change accusing
chief minister N Biren Singh of operating in a monocratic style and exercising undue favouritism while dealing with the eight Congress turncoats over BJP’s own MLAs
Minister Th Biswajit Singh from whom the chief minister had even removed two key portfolios - power and works departments – in the wake of the height of revolt against chief minister N Biren Singh is believed to be the leader of the MLAs in dissident camp.
A concerned titular king said that he sometimes thought of meeting the Governor and pressing him to take up certain steps to end the in-fighting in the ruling party.
He said it was long enough that the MLAs were engaging in such an ugly power tussle which was not in the interest of the people.
“Now is not the time to remain fighting for power. General people are at the limit of their woes,” he claimed.
He added that the state is facing a drought like situation and it was time for all the 60 MLAs to go to their respective constituencies and extend help to the people.
They must at least sideline their position and think of the people as responsible  leaders. As they come forward to work for the people, they should at least meet the people at the time of their woe, he said.
Party leaders should also work to resolve the crisis within the party considering the plights of the people, he added.
Apart from the political in-fighting, there was fresh controversy over the location of border pillar at the Manipur sector of Indo-Myanmar border.
While the government was to deal with the issueseriously, the leaders in the governance were remaining concentrated on power tussle.“It is not in the interest of the people,” he added.
If the in-fighting continue further without any conclusion, he was thinking of meeting the Governor and pressing him to intervene to end the power tussle considering the woes being facing by the people, he added.
