Mumbai: Opposition terms repair board redundant, wants it dissolved

Following Tuesday's building collapse mishap, the opposition has alleged that the repair board of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) is turning to be obsolete.
Amin Patel, Congress MLA said that the board gets Rs 100 crore as a repair fund. "This amount is released by the parent body MHADA. This amount is insufficient for the repair of 14,000 cess buildings therefore that leads to malpractices," Patel said demanding to dissolve the repair board and giving repair of cess buildings responsibility to the MHADA. "MHADA is the best body to look after its own buildings. The repair board is mired in various corruptions cases and it is purely run for the contractors now. I have met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and requested to dissolve the repair board for the larger interest of the city and its residents," Patel said.
