At Least One Member of CRO-Arunachal Pradesh to be Included in District Redressal Forum

On the request of Consumer Right Organization-Arunachal Pradesh (CRO-AP) to recognize the organization at the district-level, the Controller of Legal Meteorology-cum-Director of Consumer Affairs, Hoktum Ori agreed to appraise the matter to the district heads. He also accepted the proposal to include at least one member of CRO-AP in the district redressal forum. This was decided at the first State core committee-cum-district presidential meet in Naharlagun organized by the Consumer Right Organization- Arunachal Pradesh (CRO-AP) where the Ori, along with Assistant Director KP Tago, among others, were present. Addressing the gathering, Hoktum Ori said that problems related to consumers are very vast and only the department cannot take care of it. He said that an organization like CRO can help a lot to the department as well as innocent consumers on their rights. He said that though the department is making full effort to spread awareness of consumers’ rights through various awareness programmes, and there is less impact on the sellers as well as the consumers. He also said that due to less manpower in the department, it is quite impossible to cover and address all consumer-related problems. Ori said that, CRO can be helpful in disseminating information about consumer rights in the country. Thus, he requested the CRO-AP to get the first-hand information related to consumer rights as the topic is very vast in nature. KP Tago asked the members of CRO-AP to inform the public of the rights of consumers through various programmes and social media. He said that the consumer rights are not just confined to products price and quality but also includes education, health, safety, and information, and choice, rights to be heard and rights to be redressed in various department from government to private sectors. Tago said that the organization can be much helpful for the consumers in district levels for informing their consumer rights through various awareness camps and programme. He said that the department will support the organization to extend for such activities. The department heads also later clarified various queries related to the consumer affairs and legal meteorology put up by the district CRO representatives. Meanwhile, CRO-AP president Achu Bagang sought help from the department in organizing National Consumer Day (NCD) in the State and also provides logistic help in any kind of consumer-related programmes. He also highlighted various achievements of the organization in the state and briefed the department on the recent president’s meeting held at New Delhi and its outcome. CRO-AP general secretary Tarh Tapak also spoke on the various approaches undertaken by the organization to make consumers aware of their rights. The meeting was attended by the State executive members of CRO and the district CRO president, general secretary and the members. A few resolutions were also passed on the day for the greater interest of organization.
