The Shiv Sena’s decision to protest the central crop insurance scheme has stirred a political controversy in Maharashtra. The Sena, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, has announced a major protest march against the companies enlisted as part of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) next week.
In a reaction, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday approved a grievance committee to address any lacunae in the scheme while the Opposition slammed the saffron allies for pulling off political stunts in the name of farmers.
