Signboard comes crashing down on four-lane highway at Dabolim

A motorcycle rider was grievously injured, while four other vehicles including an Innova car and two two-wheelers were trapped under a huge signboard when it came down crashing on the four lane highway (NH17B) near INS Hansa gate at Dabolim on Wednesday evening.
The incident reported at around 6.30 pm when heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed the Mormugao taluka. The signboard was erected along the four lane highway near INS Hansa gate.
The motorcycle rider who was trapped under the fallen signboard was heading towards Mangor- Hill from Alto- Dabolim on his Unicorn motorcycle. He was immediately rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim. He is said to be recovering from his injuries.
An Innova car and 2 two-wheelers which were reported to be heading towards Alto- Dabolim from Dabolim were also found trapped under the huge signboard, luckily no occupants and riders have sustained injuries.
There were also reports of falling of trees in various parts of Mormugao taluka when incessant rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed entire Mormugao. The entire taluka was plunged into darkness for a couple of hours since 9.30 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier power disruption was reported in several parts of Mormugao taluka, putting normal life out of gear.
