Jyoti Basu centre to take off after a long wait

For eight years, the West Bengal Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has been waiting for five acres at Rajarhat to start construction of a research centre dedicated to former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, whose 106th birth anniversary was observed on Monday.
The plot was purchased in the last months of the Left Front government and allotted to the party in January 2011. Five months later, in May 2011, the entire payment of ₹4.15 crore was made, but the change in government came in the way of the party taking possession of the land.
