T.N. govt. to take legal opinion following the rejection of NEET Bills

Days after the Centre informed the Madras High Court that the President had rejected the two Bills unanimously adopted by the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2017, seeking an exemption for the State from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the State government informed the House on Monday that it would take legal opinion before deciding on the future course of action.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said the government would take legal opinion since the issue involved the Supreme Court [which mandated NEET for medical admissions] and the Madras High Court [where a case related to the issue is pending]. He was responding to a special calling attention motion moved by DMK president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin in this regard.
Raising the issue soon after Question Hour, Mr. Stalin urged the passing of a resolution condemning the Centre in the House. Though Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar spoke at length on the matter, he did not respond to Mr. Stalin’s call for a resolution in the House.
