Warning mining firms against retrenchment of workers, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that 
if companies continue laying off their workers then the state government will not cooperate with them while renewing mining leases.
Speaking to media persons at his official residence, Sawant said the mining firms will have to pay arrears to retrenched workers and re-employ them when mining 
leases will be renewed in future.
“I have already told the mining companies that they should not go ahead with retrenchment of mining workers. Still if they go ahead with 100 per cent retrenchment then the government will not cooperate with them while renewing the leases,” he emphasised.
Many mining companies have been retrenching workers since the closure of mining operations in the state.
