HC unhappy with Karnataka govt.’s efforts in drought-hit areas

Expressing dissatisfaction over the explanation given by the State on the manner in which cattle camps and fodder banks were established in drought-affected districts, the High Court of Karnataka on Friday directed the Secretaries in charge of Animal Husbandry and Disaster Management to personally be present in court on July 12.
The court also directed the government to submit data of the stock of fodder that was available with these cattle camps and fodder banks in June this year, while pointing out that documents presented on behalf of the government do not indicate that 27 cattle camps were set up based on any scientific methodology.
