CPI-M protests abrupt hike in CNG & PNG prices under BJP-IPFT rule

Tripura CPI-M organized a protest in capital Agartala against the abrupt hike of CNG (compressed natural gas) and PNG (piped natural gas) during the last 15 months after the new BJP-IPFT government came to power.
Former deputy Speaker and CPI-M senior leader Pabitra Kar said, “The BJP-IPFT government two times during this year have increased the road tax (cess) of piped natural gas and due to this the price of piped natural gas which is being used by 40,000 families of Agartala and sub-urban area, the hike is too much.”
“Again CNG, the main fuel for auto and other small vehicles of Tripura the rate has also been raised. The government of India also recently announced the hike of petrol and diesel price,” he added.
He alleged that after the new government came to power there has been an abrupt hike in the price of CNG and PNG by not only increasing the VAT by one per cent but introduced a new Tripura Road Development cess which had added another 10 per cent in the price and the latest hike was on June 21 last.
