Rajasthan assembly Speaker walks out as House witnesses tumultuous scenes

In the second day of the budget session, Rajasthan Assembly witnessed tumultuous scenes as perhaps for the first time in the state Assembly's recent history, the Speaker, Dr CP Joshi staged a walkout from the assembly. Dr Joshi became visibly irked with the senior Congress leader Shanti Dhariwal, with whom he had a verbal argument. The incident pertained to the Zero Hour during which deputy leader of opposition, Rajendra Rathore, raised the issue of sand mafia in the state assembly. When no one from the government's side was responding on the matter, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs started walking out of the assembly. At that time, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal stood up to respond to the deputy leader of opposition's charge. The Speaker, Dr CP Joshi, stopped Dhariwal from responding on the matter to which Dhariwal complained that the deputy leader of opposition had leveled such grave charges and he was not even being allowed to respond. This irked the Speaker who asked Dhariwal to run the House instead of him.
