Tamil Nadu assembly to take up the no-confidence motion against speaker Dhanapal on July 1

The Tamil Nadu assembly will take up DMK’s notice of no-confidence motion against speaker P Dhanapal on July 1. DMK president M K Stalin issued the notice on May 28 in the wake of disqualification proceedings initiated against three rebel AIADMK legislators. 

“The motion will have to be taken up on day one as per rules. The agenda of which will be released on that day,” Dhanapal told reporters, after a business advisory meeting in his chamber. The committee members, including chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, his deputy O Panneerselvam, DMK treasurer S Duraimurugan, party whip R Sakkarapani, Congress floor leader K R Ramasamy and IUML MLA Abu Backer, took part in the meet.

Dhanapal said the committee had decided to hold the session for 23 working days, beginning on June 28. The demand for grants for various departments would be taken up during the session.
