K.R. Pet MLA K.C. Narayana Gowda on Sunday met the debt-ridden family of farmer Manju Shetty, who allegedly died by suicide at his village recently, at Doddatharahalli of K.R. Pet taluk in the district.
He consoled the family, issued a cheque of ₹50,000 to the deceased’s wife Prema, and said he would help thier two children to complete their education.
The MLA requested farmers not to choose suicide while reassuring them that the State coalition government would help them.
The officials and local Janata Dal (Secular) leaders were present.
