G.T. Deve Gowda faults Vishwanath’s remarks

Minister for Higher Education G.T. Deve Gowda on Sunday found fault with former Minister A.H. Vishwanath’s reported statement that the Congress can withdraw support to the H.D. Kumaraswamy-led government if it did not wish to remain in the coalition. “Nobody has the right to say such things,” he told reporters here on Sunday.
Neither the Congress nor the JD(S) was in favor of forming a coalition government before the Assembly polls. “But the mandate of the people forced us to come together and form a secular government,” he said.
The BJP had fallen short of about 10 seats to form a Government on its own. “The voters of the State had created such a situation that it was inevitable for the Congress and JD(S) to come together and form a government,” Mr. Gowda said, dismissing Mr. Vishwanath’s reported remarks.
