The prayers for rains held on Saturday will yield results, asserted S.P. Velumani, Minister of Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, on Saturday.
The Minister participated in a ‘ Varuna Yaagam’ conducted at Patteeswarar Temple in Perur, where he said that the prayers for rains were held across the State as per the instructions of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
Regarding the transportation of drinking water from Jolarpettai to Chennai, Mr. Velumani said that the project will not affect the water needs of the people of Jolarpettai. Surveys done by officials confirmed the presence of excess water in Jolarpettai, following which the Chief Minister ordered to transport the drinking water, said Mr. Velumani, adding that the regular supply of drinking water to regions like Ambur and Vaniyambadi in Vellore will not be reduced.
