Reduce term of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to five years, demands BJP

After vowing to abrogate Article 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution in its election manifesto, the BJP is now batting for a five-year term of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. BJP lawmakers in the state have demanded that the term of the state Assembly should be reduced from six years to five years like other states.
"Like other states, J&K is also an integral part of India. Hence, it should have laws similar to those enacted by the Parliament for the entire country," BJP spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
