The Assam government is taking slew of measures for the welfare of people in the health sector.  

Participating in an AIR talk show last night,  Minister of state Pijush Hazarika said that the Health department would provide accidental insurance coverage of upto Rs. 2 lakh rupees to the Atal Amrit Abhiyan card holders. 

Atal Amrit Abhiyan is an ambitious scheme being implemented in the state providing government help in the treatment of certain ailments.He said that the same facilities would be given to ICU patients. 
Mr. Hazarika said that various steps are being taken in the tea and char areas to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Ration.
