Govenor Vajubhai Vala inaugurated the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Study Chair at Rani Chennamma University in Belagavi on Thursday. The university is the only one in South India to set up this chair. The Union government will release Rs. 5.78 crore for the chair to take up research on political and economic philosophy of Mr. Upadhyaya, an RSS ideologue.
Speaking at an event at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium in VTU, Mr. Vala said that the Union and State governments should follow the ideals preached by Mr. Upadhyaya.
