OPCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik Quits Post After Poll Debacle

Taking moral responsibility of poor show of form in the Odisha Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the State Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today announced his resignation from the post.
Patnaik during a presser in Bhubaneswar today informed that he has already sent his resignation to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to media persons, Patnaik said that even though he has stepped down from his post, he would still remain in the Congress and work towards strengthening the party organisation in the State. “The youngsters should come forward to take the baton of the party,” he added.
“Rahulji had given me the responsibility in consultation with the Congressmen of Odisha. I have tried sincerely to strengthen the Congress organisation in the state. Despite the efforts, we couldn’t win people’s confidence for which Congress has suffered this debacle in Odisha. Modi wave is sweeping the country and our party has suffered a huge setback due to it, Patnaik told media

An 18-member fact finding team led by Narasingha Mishra will find out the reason behind the party’s poll debacle. Further action will be taken after submission of the report, informs Niranjan Patnaik through press conference.
