Exit polls: Not just Odisha and Bengal, BJP may gain in Karnataka; hold Haryana, Delhi

Exit poll results for the Lok Sabha elections, released on May 19, predicted a massive win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Multiple polls predicted the BJP to cross the half-way mark on its own.
According to most such polls, BJP is seen making significant inroads into states such as West Bengal and Odisha. In 2014, BJP had won one seat in Odisha and two in West Bengal.
Its tally is now predicted to reach as high as 19-23 seats in West Bengal (out of 42) and 15-19 seats in Odisha (out of 21), according to the India Today-Axis My India exit poll.
However, what has come as a major surprise to many political observers is that the Modi-led party has managed to hold on to seats in states like Haryana and Delhi. The party has also gained in Karnataka.
In 2014, BJP had won seven out of 10 seats in Haryana. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Congress had won two and one seat, respectively. While the News18-IPSOS exit poll has predicted BJP to win six to eight seats, holding on to its 2014 numbers, some of the other exit polls have predicted a complete sweep for the saffron party. India Today-Axis My India has predicted 8-10 seats for the BJP here.
In Delhi, the BJP had swept all seven seats in 2014. Now, exit polls are predicting the saffron party to hold on to its numbers there. News18-IPSOS predicted BJP to win 6-7 seats with Congress winning 0-1 and none for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
India Today-Axis My India also made identical prediction for Delhi. News24-Today’s Chanakya predicted BJP to sweep all seven seats, just like 2014.
