Meghalaya chief minister and NPP president Conrad K Sangma is hopeful of a “landmark victory” for his party in the simultaneous parliamentary and Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh. The results of both the polls will be declared on May 23, 2019.
Presiding over a coordination meeting of the party at a hotel in Guwahati on Tuesday, Sangma appreciated the NPP candidates for putting up a strong electoral fight.

He directed Arunachal Pradesh NPP president Gicho Kabak to reorganize the party heads in the state and district units immediately and assured of full support and cooperation for strengthening the NPP in Arunachal Pradesh.
Manipur’s deputy chief minister Joykumar Singh, Meghalaya home minister James Sangma, Gicho and all the NPP candidates, who contested the April 11 election, participated in the meeting.
They included MLAs Kumar Waii, Mutchu Mithi, Tirong Aboh, Nikh Kamin, Tapuk Taku, and Paknga Bage.
Gicho predicted the probable number of winning candidates and suggested the selection of the legislature party leader after election result with due consultation with the elected MLAs and the national president.
