Congress to move SC over MLC bypoll under local bodies’ quota

The Telangana Congress has decided to take legal course on the MLC bypolls to be held under the local bodies’ quota in Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Nalgonda districts, questioning the notification itself.
The contesting ZPTC and MPTC candidates from the party in all the three districts will move the Supreme Court stating that their MLCs cannot be elected by those who have already completed their term, and the newly elected members should have the voting rights.
The MLC elections are scheduled for May 31 while the new MPTCs and ZPTCs will get their election results before that date.
The party leaders including TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, AICC Telangana incharge R.C. Khuntia, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, former CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and TPCC working presidents Ponnam Prabhakar and Kusum Kumar, who met on Saturday, decided to challenge the notification, which they said was against the rules.
