CPI(M) to initiate legal action against Meena

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State leadership is reported to have decided to initiate legal action against Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena for allegedly acting in a partisan manner against the party on complaints of bogus voting in the Kasaragod Lok Sabha segment.
The party State secretariat which met here on Friday is understood to have taken stock of the situation post election and the manner in which the CEO’s office handled the complaints and allegations of bogus voting and impersonation raised against the party.
The leadership feels that a raw deal was meted out to the party. It had been singled out and targeted on the issue, when the CEO was soft-pedalling on similar complaints and charges raised against the United Democratic Front (UDF), in general, and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), in particular.
