Karnataka agrees to release 2.5 TMC water to Telangana

The Karnataka Government has agreed to release two and half TMC water from Narayanpur dam to Jurala and thereby address the drinking water needs of erstwhile Mahabubnagar district in Telangana.
In a statement from the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s office, informed that the cordial relationship between Telangana and the Karnataka Governments has helped overcome the drinking water problem of people of erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. With the water levels steeply coming down in the reservoirs of the Mahabubnagar district, causing water shortage, the Chief Minister had requested his Karnataka counterpart HD Kumaraswamy for release of water.
On the request of Chandrashekhar Rao, the Karnataka CM, after discussing with the officials, directed the release of water to the Mahabubnagar District. The Karnataka Chief Minister telephoned Chandrashekhar Rao and informed about the decision to release water.
