Shimoga(Karnataka) Election 2019: BJP, JD(S) field sons of former chief ministers

Shimoga constituency witnessed polling on April 23 in the third phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The seat saw the poll battle between sons of two former chief ministers. The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded B Y Raghavendra, the son of BS Yeddyurappa, to take on Janata Dal (S) candidate S Madhubangarappa, the son of Sareko Bangarappa.
In the recently held by-election in November 2018 on the Shimoga seat, Raghavendra won against Madhu Bagarappa who contested on JD (S) ticket. Raghavendra outperformed Madhu by a margin of over 45,000 votes.
