Farmers' body, Gujarat Khedut Hitrakshak Samiti, has demanded that a First Investigation Report (FIR) be registered with regard to the adulteration of tuar in Visavadar. Congress MLA from Visavadar, Harshad Ribadiya also joined the protesting farmers and wrote a letter to district collector seeking FIR and an impartial investigation. They fear that the recent adulteration of crops revealed by Janta raid is just a tip of the iceberg and the actual quantum of wrongdoing would be much larger.
Volunteers of the Samiti had conducted a Janta raid at Visavadar marketing, during which adulterated stock of tuar was found. However, no criminal complaint was filed. Samiti has demanded that an FIR be filed in the case. MLA Ribadiya has started an indefinite dharna at the Collector Office seeking an FIR and a probe into the matter. Moreover, Samiti continued its raids on Saturday as well.
