Telugu Desam Party demands repoll in three booths

The TDP has submitted a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, urging him to inquire into the alleged opening of the strongroom illegally in Krishna University. The TDP also wants the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct repolling in three stations – two in the Penamaluru Assembly constituency and one in the Kodur Assembly constituency.
TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah on Thursday told Mr. Dwivedi that in the Penamaluru Assembly constituency, the Returning Officer handed over the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at the strongroom at 9 p.m. on April 12, well after the deadline ended. The authorities too opened the strongroom without obtaining permission from the ECI. The contesting candidates were also not intimated. Hence, an inquiry into it was necessary, Mr. Ramaiah told the CEO.
