EC being used to malign DMK: Stalin

Describing as “murder of democracy” the cancellation of election to the Vellore Parliamentary constituency, DMK president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday night charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with having used the Election Commission to malign the DMK.
In a brief interaction with reporters at Tiruchi airport on Tuesday evening, Mr. Stalin complained that no action had been taken on the video evidence that showed distribution of ₹1,000 cash to voters in the Theni Parliamentary constituency where Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam’s son was contesting. There was also no news on the raid that took place in the house of a contractor, who was said to be a ‘benami’ of an AIADMK Minister, he said.
On the I-T Department conducting searches at the residence of Kanimozhi, the DMK candidate for the Thoothukudi constituency, Mr. Stalin wondered on whose complaint the action was initiated. He also wanted to know why no such search was conducted at the house of BJP State president and party candidate for the constituency Tamilisai Soundarajan.
